With the relentless heat this summer, something rich, heavy and warm on the plate is anything but appetizing. Lately, sushi has been one of our favorite choices for a light meal, and when it comes to sushi, Miso on Meramec certainly is a favorite. We've been longtime fans of Miso's fine food, but knew nothing of its happy hour specials until recently.
The happy hour menu, available Tuesday through Friday from 5 to 6:30 p.m., featured a small selection of sushi rolls for $5; a group of Five for Five appetizers, which consisted of a choice of five apps from the regular menu for, you guessed it, $5 each; and a selection of domestic and imported beers, wines and signature cocktails.click here for full article…

Miso on Meramec received a burst of energy when sushi chef Eliott Harris arrived in 2009. He left last year to found his food truck, Chop Shop, but his legacy remains in such inspired rolls as the subtle, elegant "Araka Roll," which adds a grace note of Asian pear to an assortment of tempura shrimp, salmon, cucumber and avocado. The "Shaw Park Roll," featuring wasabi pea-encrusted hamachi, might be the crunchiest sushi you've ever eaten -- and among the most delicious. The standout is the "Papasan Roll," a brilliant pairing of cool, sweet striped bass with a raw jalapeno wafer.

Restauranteur Brad Beracha, owner of Araka and Miso on Meramec, has launched Miso on the Go, a catering business that offers on-site lunches to tenants of area office buildings. The program launched a few weeks ago, delivering pre-packaged sushi and other Japanese fare to tenants at Centene Plaza, located at 7700 Forsyth Blvd., in downtown Clayton. click here for full article…
